Google announced web-based Chromebook at Google I/O in May and it attracted wide attention. Now, after its launching in the US and Europe, it will be released in Korea. This Chromebook by Samsung is embedded with Google Chrome OS and with Google's Chrome browser as the center, it is focused on cloud-based computing. That means "Consistent user experience & Convenient web apps". Compared to other laptop computers, it takes Chromebook only 10 seconds to boot. Plus, your works on the web are stored on Google's server, so you don't need to worry about data loss, and you can continue your works on any other computers Currently, Google offers about 29 thousand apps and Chromebook's battery lasts for 8.5 hours. It has a HD webcam, microphone, two USB 2.0 ports, 4-in-1 memory card slot, and mini VGA port.
Enough with its specs, but what matters most is the pricing. The price tag says KRW 639,000 (USD 595) and it is not cheaper than any other netbooks nor tablet PCs. It is still more expensive than the US version(USD 429). No 3G version in Korea and Chromebook pre-order starts tomorrow until Aug 28, and pre-order customers will receive a Belkin backpack. So far, Galaxy S 2 is the most powerful Android-based smart phone and I admit it. Unlike the white version of original Galaxy S, the full body of Galaxy S 2 is white and shiny.
You can get one for yourself at SKT and KT from the 17th, and U+ will release it sometime next week. Plus, if you are one of the lucky 2,000 Galaxy S 2 buyer, you will be given a battery cover designed by Lee Dong Kee. Just buy one and go to www.samsungmobile.com and enter for the event. Yesterday, Samsung officially released their strategic tablet PC product, Galaxy Tab 10.1 in their headquarter in Gangnam. For the local consumers, they have adopted T-DMB and local contents including newspapers, books, etc. Many of you already know, but Galaxy Tab 10.1 has 10.1-inch LCD screen and its resolution is WXGA(1280x800). its thickness is 8.9mm and it weighs 570g. That means it is lighter than iPad 2 and if that's something important to you, 10.1 can be your choice. It supports 1Ghz Dual-core processor and Adobe Flash Player to embody a mobile internet environment which is almost close to PC. Its 'Readers Hub' app offers 12 newspapers, 24 magazines, 110,000 books and 1million professional information. On 'Social Hub' you can check Facebook and Twitter streams simultaneously. 'Polaris Office' app is preloaded and lets you edit MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint files, and 'iNavi 3D' is a great navigation app for the big screen. And as well as the Android Market, Samsung's app store called "Samsung Apps" will offer much more applications. Plus, fashion magazines like GQ, NYLON, ARENA are embodied as interactive media contents with sound and video. So if you think you need something specialized in the local market, this may be the one for you. The price tags don't seem very different from those of iPad 2. The 16GB model costs KRW 671,000 (USD 636) and KRW 748,000 (USD 708) for the 32GB model. Pre-order Galaxy S 2 Today from KT, or LG U+ from Today until the 28th. From SKT Sometime Soon4/22/2011 Sammy's Android flagship model, Galaxy S 2 will be released in the Korean market next week, and KT and U+ have announced their special plans for you. With KT's 2-year i-Light plan (KRW 45,000 per month), you can get it for KRW 297,000 (USD 275). You know you can get unlimited data plan for 55 i-Value plan, and if you do that, you will get it for KRW 244,200 (USD 226) or less depending on your plan. U+'s Smart 45 plan will let you have it for KRW 290,400 (USD 269), which is almost the same as KT's plan. But if you subscribe for Smart 95 plan, you will actually "receive" KRW 79,200 (USD 73). How amazing is that! SK Telecom will launch the device next week without receiving any pre-order. If you want to pre-order it online, check their official websites first. Of course, many other shops will offer you more gifts and cheaper prices, but if you order it from the official websites, you will be able to receive it first. Have a look at OllehShop or U+ Galaxy. The prepaid version of Galaxy S 2 will be KRW 847,000 (USD 784). As Apple iPhone 5 is getting ready for its global launching, Samsung has decided to bring the next model of its Android smartphone line of Galaxy S, Galaxy S 2 to South Korea in last April. This time, the scale has become bigger. It is coming by the three mobile carriers - SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+. Samsung Galaxy S 2 powered by Google Android Its Android OS version will be 2.3, Gingerbread and its display is known as "4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus". I wasn't a big fan of Galaxy S but its Super AMOLED screen was absolutely stunning. Now it's coming with "Plus", so I can't wait to see this bright sexy thing. Also, the device has got thinner than the previous model by 1.4mm and 8.49mm is one of the slimmest smartphones. Samsung and SKT had a close relation but it got broken when SKT also decided to bring iPhone 4. Now, iPhone 4 is coming by both SKT & KT and SKT won't support Galaxy S as much as they used to. I am pretty sure that Samsung has enough cash to advertise Galaxy S 2 on TV or everywhere but with less help of SKT, the biggest mobile carrier in Korea, I don't know how many device activation Samsung will get. The activation number of the previous Galaxy S in South Korea is 2.8 million so far. At the end of this month, Google's reference phone of its new Android OS version known as Gingerbread, Nexus S is coming to SKT and KT customers. Nexus S is manufactured by Samsung Electronics and its the sequel of Google's pure Android smartphone - Nexus One. It uses a 'curved' 4-inch Super AMOLED screen, and has unique functions like m-VoIP (Google Voice) and NFC (short distance mobile payment system). It also has a front camera so you can make some video chats too! So, whether you are a subscriber of SKT or KT, you can get this bad boy..exciting, isn't it? Samsung's smartphone 'Wave 2' has been released in the Korean domestic market from the 7th. Wave 2 carries Samsung's original mobile OS called Bada (it means "sea" in Korean). One of its features is that the size of its icons is much bigger than that of icons in Android devices or iPhone. Another feature is Social Hub, which was developed by Samsung. You can manage your SNS (Social Network Service) accounts like Facebook, Twitter, and your email accounts like Gmail, or Hotmail in this application..and texts, contacts, schedules too!!! Like Android devices, you can use widgets, so you can check the Facebook news feeds on the main screen. Wave 2 also contains Samsung Apps which is just like Android Market or App Store. It's a slim, streamlined metal body and the 5.0 mega pixel camera and flash has a diamond shape and it gives uniqueness. Its 3.7-inch Super Clear LCD screen looks ideal and you can use an external memory card up to 32GB. The price without contract is about KRW 700,000 (USD 633) and with 2-year contract, you can get it at about KRW 100,000 (USD 90). |
