So far, Galaxy S 2 is the most powerful Android-based smart phone and I admit it. Unlike the white version of original Galaxy S, the full body of Galaxy S 2 is white and shiny.
You can get one for yourself at SKT and KT from the 17th, and U+ will release it sometime next week. Plus, if you are one of the lucky 2,000 Galaxy S 2 buyer, you will be given a battery cover designed by Lee Dong Kee. Just buy one and go to www.samsungmobile.com and enter for the event. It has been less than a month since we heard that iPad 2 started rolling out in the US and some other countries. Now it is right here since April 29 and you can buy it at SKT, KT and Apple Premium Resellers. SKT doesn't sell the wi-fi version but both of SKT and KT have some 2-year contract plans with 2G/4G data. If you don't want any contract, you can get an unlocked device for KRW 790k ~ 1.04m (USD 739 ~ 973). That is for SKT, and KT has slightly lower prices. There are many wi-fi hotspots and you can even create one with your iPhone or Android device. The 16GB wi-fi model costs KRW 640k (USD 599) and you need to pay KRW 890k (USD 833) for the 64GB model. You can find the wi-fi version at KT or Premium Resellers like Frisbee or A# (sad that we don't have Apple Retail Store here yet).
There are some special packages too. For a SKT subscriber who has subscribed to a smartphone plan, a KRW 100k (USD 94) discount will be given for iPad 2 purchase. KT is planning on something similar. Well, it is all sold out everywhere in Korea now, so think about it and get what suits you the best. Pre-order Galaxy S 2 Today from KT, or LG U+ from Today until the 28th. From SKT Sometime Soon4/22/2011 Sammy's Android flagship model, Galaxy S 2 will be released in the Korean market next week, and KT and U+ have announced their special plans for you. With KT's 2-year i-Light plan (KRW 45,000 per month), you can get it for KRW 297,000 (USD 275). You know you can get unlimited data plan for 55 i-Value plan, and if you do that, you will get it for KRW 244,200 (USD 226) or less depending on your plan. U+'s Smart 45 plan will let you have it for KRW 290,400 (USD 269), which is almost the same as KT's plan. But if you subscribe for Smart 95 plan, you will actually "receive" KRW 79,200 (USD 73). How amazing is that! SK Telecom will launch the device next week without receiving any pre-order. If you want to pre-order it online, check their official websites first. Of course, many other shops will offer you more gifts and cheaper prices, but if you order it from the official websites, you will be able to receive it first. Have a look at OllehShop or U+ Galaxy. The prepaid version of Galaxy S 2 will be KRW 847,000 (USD 784). KT subscribers - Without a contract, you can get this smartphone device for KRW 800,000 (USD 733), and that is cheaper than many other dual-core powered smartphones. Plus, KT gives out free HD Multimedia Docks to Atrix subscribers. In the US, its price tag says USD 99.99. KT seems pretty desperate (Apple is not exclusive to KT anymore, you know). SKT subscribers - Sadly, HD Multimedia Dock won't be included in the basic package, but you can buy between that and Laptop Dock. The price of the device will be announced tomorrow. If you get one for yourself before the 30th, SKT will draw lots and give out 100 Motorola Xoom tablets and 100 laptop docks for Atrix, and you can be one of them.
As Apple iPhone 5 is getting ready for its global launching, Samsung has decided to bring the next model of its Android smartphone line of Galaxy S, Galaxy S 2 to South Korea in last April. This time, the scale has become bigger. It is coming by the three mobile carriers - SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+. Samsung Galaxy S 2 powered by Google Android Its Android OS version will be 2.3, Gingerbread and its display is known as "4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus". I wasn't a big fan of Galaxy S but its Super AMOLED screen was absolutely stunning. Now it's coming with "Plus", so I can't wait to see this bright sexy thing. Also, the device has got thinner than the previous model by 1.4mm and 8.49mm is one of the slimmest smartphones. Samsung and SKT had a close relation but it got broken when SKT also decided to bring iPhone 4. Now, iPhone 4 is coming by both SKT & KT and SKT won't support Galaxy S as much as they used to. I am pretty sure that Samsung has enough cash to advertise Galaxy S 2 on TV or everywhere but with less help of SKT, the biggest mobile carrier in Korea, I don't know how many device activation Samsung will get. The activation number of the previous Galaxy S in South Korea is 2.8 million so far. Motorola's Atrix is still on fire in the states, and its next target is going to be South Korea. The Android-based smartphone was revealed at CES 2011 in Las Vegas and won the "Best Smartphone" award. Its laptop dock carries a 11.6-inch screen and a full keyboard. If you mount the "brain", Atrix with it, you can use your smartphone as a laptop. Also, a multimedia dock will help you connect Atrix to your TV with a HDMI cable. So, as they say, "In your office, you can connect Atrix to your laptop dock and use it for business purpose, and at home, you can enjoy your entertainment contents in your Atrix with your wide LED TV. Especially, Motorola's Webtop application will offer a brand new UI which works greatly on a wider screen and you can use Firefox and Adobe Flash Player. Let me check the general technical specifications of this sexy device. 1GHz dual-core processor, 4-inch qHD (960x480), 16GB internal memory (32 to 48GB external), 1930 mAh battery, 135 grams, front and rear-facing cameras, Android 2.2 (Froyo), etc. Froyo is kinda inadequate as you can get Gingerbread smartphones already, but it still sounds sexy enough! It will get updated to 2.3 soon so don't worry about it much. The local prices of the device and its accessories are not confirmed yet. The US price of the laptop dock is USD 500 but let's hope that it won't be ridiculous here. Anyway, it is coming to both SK Telecom and KT (which sounds great), and will be available sometime in April, so if you want a dual-core smartphone which will give you a perfect mobile computing experience, I think it is worth the wait. At the end of this month, Google's reference phone of its new Android OS version known as Gingerbread, Nexus S is coming to SKT and KT customers. Nexus S is manufactured by Samsung Electronics and its the sequel of Google's pure Android smartphone - Nexus One. It uses a 'curved' 4-inch Super AMOLED screen, and has unique functions like m-VoIP (Google Voice) and NFC (short distance mobile payment system). It also has a front camera so you can make some video chats too! So, whether you are a subscriber of SKT or KT, you can get this bad boy..exciting, isn't it? |
