I know that iPad is an amazing device and it's surprisingly cheap, but don't you feel that all you can see is iPad when you look around? Well, if you are looking for something that is not iPad nor a giant smartphone like Galaxy Tab, here's your first choice. Motorola Mobility is bringing 3G + Wi-fi XOOM which is their collaboration work with Google. It's coming to SK Telecom in mid April. Honeycomb is the code name for Android OS version 3.0. Probably your Galaxy S has Froyo, version 2.2, and Nexus S has Gingerbread, version 2.3. Honeycomb is the version made entirely for tablets, and it offers you phenomenal experiences. I have one for myself, and its notification and web browsing capability is better than any other tablet PCs including iPad. Google Chrome Browser will let you have the same web browsing experience like when you're using your laptop or desktop. If you use Chrome on your PC or Mac, you can sync your bookmarks with XOOM. Plus, Adobe Flash Player 10.2 is available so if you can see something on the browser on your computer, you will see it on your XOOM, too. It is true that there are not many applications for honeycomb tablets, but everyday there are new apps on Android Market, and still most of Gingerbread apps work fine on XOOM. Its resolution is 1280 x 800 and that is the best among all the tablets available now. 10.1 inch screen is perfect for watching YouTube videos and reading newspapers. Its battery lasts for about 10 hours and recharging takes only 2-3 hours. That's good. However, it is kinda heavy, and it is slightly heavier than the original iPad. Motorola XOOM Wi-fi version won't be launched this time, and we'll never know. The price in unspecified yet but its US price was USD 799 so don't count on it.

Another Gingerbread smartphone is coming! Sony Ericsson's new version of its smartphone line "XPERIA" is coming to SK Telecom exclusively in April. The previous X10 was quite laggy and disappointing, but this baby is damning hot. You can choose between Midnight Blue and Misty Silver. XPERIA Arc Midnight Blue Like its name, it has a very sexy curve and its thickness of 8.7mm makes it even sexier. Its 4.2 inch screen is bigger than that of X10 (4 inch). They have applied Mobile Bravia Engine from Sony's Bravia TV and its mirroring to big TV screen is fascinating. Also, the night shot sensor from Sony Cyber-shot "Mobile Exmor R" and f/2.4 lens are mounted, so you can take pictures at night without flash. Timescape, Sony Ericsson's original UI has been ungraded, too. Timescape was the main reason why X10 was so laggy. It is one of the most beautiful interface I've ever seen but it used too much memory. Fortunately, Timescape on Arc has got so much faster, but compared to the pure Android OS, like the one on Google Nexus S, you will still feel that it's kinda laggy. 1GHz singer-core is weird but Sony Ericsson is trying to differentiate this one from other smartphones with Sony's multimedia technologies and Android 2.3 Gingerbread is preinstalled and the phone is optimized to it, so the speed you can feel won't be that different. And, its body is sexier than many chunky phones, so why not?

It will fly to Hong Kong everyday during this promotion period. Fuel surcharge and airport tax are not included, but you can still fly to Hong Kong with about KRW 200,000. That's a pretty good deal. Ticket reservation has begun since today and for each day, 70 seats are maximum. Tickets are for 15 days and you can't get full refunds nor schedule changes. You can get your ticket to Hong Kong at Jeju Air's Homepage. As Apple iPhone 5 is getting ready for its global launching, Samsung has decided to bring the next model of its Android smartphone line of Galaxy S, Galaxy S 2 to South Korea in last April. This time, the scale has become bigger. It is coming by the three mobile carriers - SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+. Samsung Galaxy S 2 powered by Google Android Its Android OS version will be 2.3, Gingerbread and its display is known as "4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus". I wasn't a big fan of Galaxy S but its Super AMOLED screen was absolutely stunning. Now it's coming with "Plus", so I can't wait to see this bright sexy thing. Also, the device has got thinner than the previous model by 1.4mm and 8.49mm is one of the slimmest smartphones. Samsung and SKT had a close relation but it got broken when SKT also decided to bring iPhone 4. Now, iPhone 4 is coming by both SKT & KT and SKT won't support Galaxy S as much as they used to. I am pretty sure that Samsung has enough cash to advertise Galaxy S 2 on TV or everywhere but with less help of SKT, the biggest mobile carrier in Korea, I don't know how many device activation Samsung will get. The activation number of the previous Galaxy S in South Korea is 2.8 million so far. It has been 4 years since Shinsegae-Chelsea's first Premium Outlets opened in Yeoju, and its second outlets are getting ready for the big opening tomorrow. Men's collection is also enhanced with Theory Men's and Nina Ricci Men's. Jil Sander, Tory Burch, Calvin Klein Collection stores here are the only outlet stores in Korea. The one in Yeoju got many complaints about lack of restaurants but in Paju Premium Outlets, 21 restaurants and food/beverage stores will open, so you don't have to wander around looking for food or coffee. You can enter from 2pm tomorrow and there will be a couple of events. More discount options will be give on the opening day and maybe you can win a flight ticket to Hawaii. Plus, this outlet is closely located to Heyri Art Valley and Paju English Village, so if you decide to visit here, you can check those places too.
Just like Groupon USA, Groupon Korea will send out newsletters containing information about local coupons. If you like the coupon information, you can recommend it to your friends via txt, email, Twitter and Facebook and it is expected that Groupon Korea will be connected with several locan social networking services. The website is already ready and open, but the actual coupon service will start from the 14th of March. But this doesn't mean that you can just wait for the 14th. It's kind of a pre-opening event and if min. 50,000 people subscribe for email newsletter, you will receive groupon cash of KRW 1,000. That means you'd better check the website and subscribe now. Motorola's Atrix is still on fire in the states, and its next target is going to be South Korea. The Android-based smartphone was revealed at CES 2011 in Las Vegas and won the "Best Smartphone" award. Its laptop dock carries a 11.6-inch screen and a full keyboard. If you mount the "brain", Atrix with it, you can use your smartphone as a laptop. Also, a multimedia dock will help you connect Atrix to your TV with a HDMI cable. So, as they say, "In your office, you can connect Atrix to your laptop dock and use it for business purpose, and at home, you can enjoy your entertainment contents in your Atrix with your wide LED TV. Especially, Motorola's Webtop application will offer a brand new UI which works greatly on a wider screen and you can use Firefox and Adobe Flash Player. Let me check the general technical specifications of this sexy device. 1GHz dual-core processor, 4-inch qHD (960x480), 16GB internal memory (32 to 48GB external), 1930 mAh battery, 135 grams, front and rear-facing cameras, Android 2.2 (Froyo), etc. Froyo is kinda inadequate as you can get Gingerbread smartphones already, but it still sounds sexy enough! It will get updated to 2.3 soon so don't worry about it much. The local prices of the device and its accessories are not confirmed yet. The US price of the laptop dock is USD 500 but let's hope that it won't be ridiculous here. Anyway, it is coming to both SK Telecom and KT (which sounds great), and will be available sometime in April, so if you want a dual-core smartphone which will give you a perfect mobile computing experience, I think it is worth the wait. |
