It has been two months since the construction started and it seems to start accelerating. The ground-making of Super Tower 123 is going swimmingly, and the basement stories of Lotte shopping centers seem pretty massive too. Let's keep our eyes on it.

People say "A picture is worth a thousand words". It's getting close. (Not reached 270 meters yet though)
The exterior wall & roof construction of Three IFC will be finished soon and they will put a heliport up there. According to Nexus Realty Inc, ING Investment Management, Deloitte Korea, Daiwa Securities, Asahi Kasei and LG Hausys will be using up 70% of One IFC. The top of Three IFC is hardly visible as it is quite foggy, but soon it will lead 63 Building. Its completion is getting close and some securities companies are planning to move in.
One IFC, which will be completed first, will be the new home for Deloitte Korea, ING Investment Management and Daiwa Securities. Now Two IFC and Three IFC are left and a couple of local securities firms are showing their interests. Lotte World 2 Shopping Complex got finally approved in last November, and since then what has happened? The setting-out has been ready for 16 years, but now they seem to be doing excavation and pile-driving. Considering how massive the whole complex is, I think it is going to take a while to finish the entire construction. Let me tell you some brief information about Lotte World 2 & Lotte Super Tower 123. As you probably know, it is located right across the original Lotte World Complex in Jamsil. Lotte World 2 consists of 7 low-rise buildings and Super Tower. When it is all completed, it will be the world's 6th largest shopping complex (It will be slightly smaller than the Dubai Mall). Lotte Department Store, Lotte Mart, and many other cultural facilities will be included. Lotte Super Tower 123 has 123 levels as you may have expected and its height will be 555m. Lotte Hotel, premium offices, observation decks and a sky lounge will be the main tenants. There were a lot of conflicts about the construction of this complex, but as they have decided to build this, I hope everything will be fine from now on.
Today, the Big Roof of Dureraum (Busan Cinema Complex) has been completed. This is the world's longest cantilever roof and its length is 163m and its width is 62m. There's only one pillar holding the Big Roof. It was designed by Coop Himmerb(l)au which also designed BMW Welt in München. You can find the similarity. BIFF (Busan International Film Festival) 2011 will be held in Dureraum in October and its total construction will be completed in Semtember, 2011. When its totally completed, 42 thousand LED lights will be shinning from the Big Roof. And the Busan National Maritime Museum is also being constructed in Youngdo-gu in Busan and it is expected to be completed in April, 2012.
ING Investment Management has decided to move into IFC Seoul in September 2011. The IFC Mall and Conrad Seoul are expected on open in August, and from the pictures below, you can see that the construction of the hotel podium and one of the pavilions of the shopping mall seems like it is going well. In Yeouido, a yacht marina is expected to open in April, so the island is getting better and better for you to visit.
I'd rather call it art. And it really is. We know it as Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park (DDPP) but its original design is called "Metonymic Landscape" designed by a famous Iraqi architect, Zaha Hadid. Dongdaemun History & Culture Park (DHCP) is open now and you can go and check the relics which were found during this construction. The below four pictures are DHCP and its museum.
Some parts of the Han river are still frozen, but it may be helpful for the engineers to construct these islands. I am not sure how energy-efficient their glass curtain walls but they seem pretty outstanding.
It is still freezing but it is officially March now! In Marine City, Busan, the construction of the most luxurious residential complex in Korea, I'Park Marina has never been stopped whether it was freezing or not. In March, I'Park Marina and its taller competitor, the Zenith are getting close to the top floor of each. I guess those who chose this place will never regret their choice.
The below photos are of the views from Level 50 of I'Park Marina. Ter-iff-ic!! |
