The main hall on the ground floor will be used as a multipurpose space such as cafe, event/performance hall. The former waiting room, ladies' waiting room, stationmaster's office, VIP lounge will become exhibition halls. The main dorm has been decorated with stained-glass windows. Other rooms like the wiring room will be also used as exhibition spaces or offices. The grill on the second floor which was the most famous Western restaurant during the Japanese colonial era, has become a multipurpose hall for performance/seminar/conference. The restroom and barbershop have been restored to its original form, so I advise you to visit.
The renovation of the former Seoul Station has been finished finally. And with a brand new name. 284 comes from its number as a historical site. If you missed the chance to see the whole city from the airplane, or if you don't have enough money to hire a helicopter, there's a next best thing you can try. You can find it at the Seoul Museum of History. On level 3, there's an exhibition called "Seoul, Now and in the Making". The admission is free and it is open until 9 pm (7 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays). You can see the city as you're seeing from the sky. Along the Han river, you can see the buildings, houses and parks which you couldn't visit or see at the same time. In this exhibition hall, there are some touch panels which will tell you about the names of famous neighborhoods. Not just current cityscapes, but you can also find some big future projects of the city like Yongsan Dream Hub, Yongsan Park, and the Seoulite. It is as romantic as enjoying the city from Seoul Tower, so maybe you should try this sometime. Also a great chance to grasp the overall geography of Seoul. |
